What type of camera do you use? Why does this matter? Like wedding photographers, I use DSLR cameras with full-frame sensors. These shoot in HD and have changed the game for wedding videography. The look of the video footage is sharp and dynamic, even in low-lighting. With interchangeable lenses, these DSLR cameras give wedding cinema an artistic and cinematic edge. [Tip: Not all wedding videographers use DSLR cameras. Ask about cameras so that you know what to expect.]
What is a lavalier mic? Some people call them wireless microphones. I pin it to the groom’s collar before the ceremony starts. The tiny microphone records clear audio of the vows.
What is your strategy for capturing all of the events on my wedding day? My strategy is to shoot as many long clips as possible, and to be aware of what is happening around me while recording. Experience has given me good reflexes for capturing all the spontaneous moments. For Full-Length Films, I bring an experienced assistant with me for extra coverage.
How long are your wedding films? My Highlight Films are between 6-10 minutes. Full-Length Films are between 30-50 minutes. There are more details about these on the ‘Packages’ page.
How do you determine the content that is in your wedding films? For the Highlight Film, I assemble hundreds of the best clips into a well-paced story that begs to be replayed.
For the Full Length Film, I edit between two camera angles to provide the full experience of the ceremony, first dance, parent dances, speeches, and cake cutting. Additionally, I provide all of the unedited video footage on a USB flash drive for couples who want the ‘deleted scenes.’
Can we pick the music for our Highlight Film? Yes! I encourage couples to choose songs that they enjoy. Songs are picked from www.themusicbed.com, www.songfreedom.com, or other sites where I can buy the licensing.
Can we order a Full-Length Film after the wedding, when we can afford it? Definitely. Just know that this film will not have the extra camera angle from my assistant. I only bring a second videographer if a Full-Length Film is ordered pre-wedding.
What does it take to book you? When are the payments due?
To reserve your date I require a signed contract and a deposit, which is 50% of the total cost. The remaining balance is due at least 2 weeks before the wedding.
Do you collect sales tax? In accordance with state law, I collect a 7% sales tax. The tax will be listed on your contract and invoice.
Do you travel?
Yes, absolutely. I only require a travel fee which is customized to your destination.
